I have had my ball python for 8 years and when I got him she was about 4 years old. We took him to the vet and got him sexed and the vet said male. Well this morning I get a call from my mom telling me that my ball just laid between 6-10 eggs. Can anyone tell me why my ball python being a female not have a clutch of eggs until she was 12-13 years old?

DO YOU STILL HAVE THE EGGS!?!?!

Now that I got that out, I recommend giving incubation a shot as you might have just witnessed parthenogenesis in action, e.g. self-fertilization; it's also possible that she was previously bred and had retained some of the sperm, but that's highly unlikely this many years later.

i do not have an incubator, but they are in with the "mother" still

That will be fine if she decides to wrap around them in order to keep them warm. Do not adjust anything (temps, humidity, etc.) and keep to your usual routine because she should know what to do and will do her best to hatch those eggs. She might go off of food now, but there's nothing to worry about as long as she was at a healthy weight before and doesn't lose too much weight during incubation.

she lost a good amount of weight due to dropping the eggs, but they are in a section of the tank that is 90 and the humidity in the tank is about 60%
