hI GUYS

I have a chance to buy a 7inch male umbie from an exprienced breeder but the only problem is that its got lymphosistis. I think its a viral. I was told most umbies in the uk has had some exposer to the LV and in time it disappears . AS you all know to get a male umbie is very difficult so I already said yes to the offer.

Do you think I made the right decision and will the LA infect my other fish?

I've had them on MOST juvie Umbees I've got. You just need really clean water and with age they seem to fall off.

Lymph is viral, so there is no treatment and it does not go away. With proper care it can easily go into remission, but that fish, tank, and anything that comes in contact with that tank (nets, hoses, etc.) can infect other fish. As soon as the fish becomes stressed the lymph can reappear.

It's not usually fatal and you usually can't even tell the fish is infected, but there is no cure. If you're willing to take on a "special" needs umbee go for it. Just be aware that lymph is for life.

I am having second thoughts because intime I know I will forget which stuff i used for which tank and if my other valuable fish like rtg arowana and dovii becomes infected I will be gutted

Thanks guys, just sent a e-mail saying no, if something happened to my dovii and i knew it was my fault i would never forgive myself. I will just have to be patient for my search for a male umbie.
