My male green terror seems to be chasing after the female a lot.
He totally ignores the polypterus in the tank and will do a little bit of chasing to a small red terror (temporarily in the tank) and a managuense (also temporary)

The female GT laid eggs before the male was added to the tank and has since eaten them...everyone in the tank lives in harmony except the s*** disturbing male GT...although he pays special attention to the female.

so here are the options I have came up with.

1. When/if I can sell my piranhas I would put the male and female GT into a tank on their own...do they sound like a pair?

OR

2. Place the male GT in a separate tank with the polys and leave the other 3 where they are and do a s/a community?

What do you think?

EDIT: I have just been observing the tank a bit more and the male GT doesn't seem to ALWAYs harass the female...just now she came out of her log and he isn't chasing her...

Hey I have a breeding pair of green terrors. I have only had them for a mth. The man I got them off of said they are a good match and have had fry once (also own one of the babies in another tank) anyway they seem to get more aggressive when it is breeding time from what I understand. I would put them in a tank of their own. Thats just me 20 % weekly water changes ext to get them to spawn. Good luck would love to know how it all turns out. Im new to Green terrors myself so it should be interesting for me also.:mwave:

He was probably chasing her simply becuase he was ready to breed, but she wasn't after laying eggs so soon. Once she is ripe again, you'll have a good shot. Sometimes cichlids do need to be seperated to get the female in condition again. I'd keep an eye on it for now. Having the other target cichlids would be helping to distract him at the moment, so I wouldn't put just the pair alone just yet. I'd wait until they do their first egg laying together.
