Over here.
My female Leo is expecting pups again in about 45 days. I really feel guilty about putting the devider up again because it limits her space. My question is, has anyone had pups with the male in the tank , no devider and no problems? My male doesn't seem agressive at all. My female had absolutely no bite marks when they hooked up. What do the pros out there think?

I had many litters of motoros with the male in the pond and had no issues.

However, in one of the last litters I had, at least two pups were cannibalized. I don't know if it was the mother, the father or the other female in the pond that did it.

My pup was in the tank for a few hours before I removed her. During that time, the male didn't bother her. She is back in the tank now and the male doesn't pay much attention to her.

My question is, why risk it?

Hell you could sell one pup for enough moeny needed to buy a whole new tank!

Cause out of over 20 litters we have never even had a pup with a bite mark on it. At the minimum we have 3-4 females and 2 males per tank when there born and never had any problems. I think feeding plays a large part in this problem. We feed very well and seems the adults are not hungry enough to kill the young. Just my opinion

The last few litters i had.. I had a pup or two both times with bite marks

true i never had a problem if you move the pups and their is a slight diffrence in water parameters you may lose the pups

males never ones went near the pups if they even touched them it was like the adults were scared of the pups for the 1st few days
