Here be the Mammers... He's my other male African Bullfrog. Just like Behemoth, he's on a mostly invert diet, and has the occasional mouse or rat pup thrown in for variety.

He's much lighter in color than Behemoth is, and he's another one of my favorites where my frogs are concerned!

Also, if it's an issue with both of them having their own threads let me know and I'll happy turn them into one.

Col looking frog dude, how big is it? Does anyone know if the Goliath frog is avialable in the trade? I'm not sure if it is or not.

Thanks alot folks... :D

Right now, Mammoth is pushing about 5 3/4" - 6". Still has quite a bit of growth to do. Haha, he's still actually got quite a bit of his "froglet" coloring present. So I'm thinking/hoping he'll be massive when all is said and done...

As for the Goliaths, well, I've heard from a few sites that you can purchase them, but then I've heard that the Goliaths being sold aren't Goliaths at all... If I'm not mistaken their a threatened species (could be wrong though).

Not to mention the size enclosure those beasts would need

Them legs are made for jumping haha!

Ok first of great frog:D very well looked after:thumbsup:
As for goliaths this is what I know. They were once avaible in the pet trade in considerable numbers(but even then they were very expensive) as wild cauths. But most people and even zoo´s experts had real trobble keeping them alive. They refused food and the fact that they are made for jumping (they smashed their faces against the walls of to small enclosures) means that more than 90% of them died(but not all;)). Also the fact that they are a endagered species made them desapear from the trade. No more wild imports and most that were already here died, so whats left? Well lets say that only a handfull survived in a few zoós and private colections. The hobbists that were able to keep them alive are true Goliahs frogs entusiasts with a very deep wallet. They are few and far between. They exist both in the US and Europe(maybe someone in China or Japan also has them:confused:) Most of them have trully gigantic enclosures for the frogs. I herd that there is a guy in California that has trasformed all of its basement into a tropical swamp to house its 3 goliaths:eek::headbang2A huge undertaking but this frogs are certanly wort it:D Another important data is that aparently some guys outhere have been able to breed them:eek: I once saw a article about that in one of Reptilia´s magazines. But even then I conserned that this frog may become extinct in the hobby. Most captive especimens are keep singularily and most are very elderly. It would be very important that the people that still have this frogs to sher its animals in order to acomplish more breeding in this small captive population. Perhaps, maybe one day this species may become avaible in the form of captive breed juveniles:D
