I have a large Male gold Altolamprologus compressiceps that has become absolutely vicious as of late. He is around 4 inches and every time I clean tank/vacuum substrate, clean rocks etc. He lashes out and attacks me. Biting the crap out of me over and over and this guy definitely has teeth. I actually find it amusing (even though it hurts like hell sometimes) , but I was wondering if this is normal for these guys to be so aggressive. He is not aggressive towards any of his tankmates, but this guy hates me for some reason. LOL.
Have any of you experienced this from your compressiceps???

actually havent mines pretty cool he just does the sideways bend every time he gets spooked kinda funny actually. i cant keep my hands outa the tank so they pretty cool with me { cant decide on rock pattern always changing it }.. My jag on the other hand always makes me nervous,

my calvus never attack me but my gold ocellatus on the other hand are quite vicious. Its usually a territorial thing.

Do you have any others in the tank? Might have a pair. If so they can get protective of their area.
No others (Compressiceps) in tank. There is a lelelupi and a handful of mpimbwe fronts.

My comps never attack even when there's eggs or fry in their cave.
The calvus are the opposite. They'll come right to the surface to bite at me.

Ha thats funny my 5" Calvus was the same way, he would never bother any other fish but as soon as I would come up to the tank he would flare out his gills, open his mouth and try to swim through the tank to get at me, it was the craziest thing. what ever side of the tank I was at, there he was there attacking me through the glass haha.

planning his attack lol

i once saw a video on you tube with a comp attacking the glass as if it was a flowerhorn ...sooo interesting...mine are shy can't imagine them doing that...but there not solitary and perhaps that might have something to do with it.
