so i went to my lfs today to look around. i noticed that in there assorted sa/ca cichlid a pair of red devils had spawned and the fry were free swimming. it was awesome to watch the devils fend of every other fish in the tank. well the fish manager was in at the time and i asked him what they did with the fry, he told me that they just let them go. he then asked me if i wanted them, no charge and of course i said yes, well i then saw a clown pleco and decided i wanted it, i went to check out and i went for my wallet, i FORGOT it, i told them i would be right back. well i ran home, grabed my wallet and returned, all within 5 min. i got back and they said they released the fry back into the tank and also the pleco. man was i upset. they told me they didnt think i was gonna come back. i guess i will just have to wait and see if they will spawn again, i hope so.

I can't believe you went to a fish store without a wallet... I guess it is safer that way though. Tough luck mate.

thats is a good point. my first impulse buy that screwed me over.
I did this once before, but not at a lfs. My solution to this is: Explain to a manager that you left your $ elsewhere. Let them hold something else of yours, such as a set of keys or other id. Tell the you will return and give them your telephone number. If they have something else of yours they know you will return for, and your phone #, they are very likely to hold the item.
