I'm clearly new to the site, but Ive got a general question about my fish. I have a female jag cichlid I'd say about 7" grown strong from a very poor quality juvi at LFS. I have her in a 30 gal by herself. Toying with idea of getting a male to breed. She has laid eggs before. I have a 25 gal for potential growout tank.
Would this be a worthwhile venture in terms of relative difficulty and possible profitabllity?
Any comments/suggstion would be much appreciated.

I hate to say this, because I hate how much people love to say it, but you should probably upgrade the main tank first. 30 is way small for one Jag and definitely too small for two. They would probably kill each other pretty quick in such a cramped space. If you go big, I'd say at least 100 gallons or so, it should work out given they decide to breed for you. I doubt you would make any money on the fry because they are fairly common, but it might be interesting to do just for fun. Again I hate to start you off by saying to upgrade your set-up, but if you have the means I think it would benefit your Jag/Jags and any other fish you decide to keep. Good luck either way Doc.
