ever since i bought my first jag ive been hooked. theyre by far the coolest fish ive had. but ive read a lot of different opinions about water parameters. i love the jags that ive seen on MFK so i want direct my questions toward you guys. im looking for ideal conditions, water temp., food, how often to feed, water changes etc... this is my female at 5 in. let me know what you think. thanks for the help.

Jags are pretty hardy and will accept most water chemistry as long as it is not an extreme. Obviously the cleaner the water the better. I like to keep my nitrates under 20pmm at all times.

Feeding them a varied diet is key. Mine loved krill, but I had to ween him off it for a while because he stopped eating pellets. Blood worms, brine shrimp, night crawlers, crayfish...

Good lookin fish you got there.

thanks for the replys. im getting my male finally from las vegas. he'll be here in a couple days. hes a little larger than she is though. whats the best way to introduce them to each other?

That can be tough, especially if you've had the female for a while. I'd at the least, rearrange the tank a bit and switch out decorations if you can. I would also have a divider on hand for sure.

i would def start with a divider in the tank, after a few days then you could either try putting them together under close observation or since she is smaller, cut holes big enough for her to get through but not him, and then once they seem to be getting along you can take the divider out but i would still keep it handy just in case you need to quickly put it back in GOOD LUCK
