I recieved my Managuense from Tangled on 02/10 and it is still not eating. It is actively swimming around and seems fine, but it wont take any food that I have put in the tank. It is about 5 or 6" right now. Should I put it in the 20 long I have until it feeds? It is in a 150 now with some other fish.

Ive tried Hikari Floating, NLS Sinking, Frozen BW, Panfish Worms, Frozen Brine, Dried Brine, Frozen Krill.

Thanks. I am affraid if it doesnt eat soon it will effect its growth.

You may not have seen it eat, but I'm sure it has eaten by now. Maybe at night. If he's good an active, I think I would worry too much.

Since 02/10 or 03/10 If its 02/10 then it is eating just when your not watching. If its since March 10 I suggest to move him to the smaller tank. When I purchase or order new fish I always put them in my 30 gallon for atleast a week.
Perhaps the fish in the 150 is harrasing or getting the food before the jag does. When you purchase a new cichlid they are usually nervous the first week or so -hence putting him in a smaller tank with no mates will increase the chances of him eating.

It is 02/10. Ill just move forward knowing he eats while I dont look. There is plenty in there for it to eat and is not bullied. If anything, it is the one chaseing every so often.

Very interesting. I bought 2 Mesonauta guyanae from Rapps at about the same time (early February) and I have not seen either of mine eat. To make matters worse, they arrived with ulcers that presumably developed during transport. I've had them in a hospital tank the entire time and have spent ridiculous amounts of $$ on treatment. The ulcers are close to healed now but wow they have been very slow to heal. I presume the ulcers contributed to lack of appetite but the fact they still aren't eating is a major concern of mine.

As an aside, I bought 2 Krobia guianensis at the same time and both of those developed fin rot immediately. Both had tattered fins, again presumably from transport. I wonder if the FedEx driver was playing soccer with the box. I doubt I'll buy fish online again unless I'm really desperate for a rare species. This experience has been way too much work and way too expensive.

The two other fish I purchased from Rapps at the same time are great and eating well. Like I stated, the fish seems perfectly fine ... I just never see him eat. Sorry to hear the fish problems.

On a side note, I called Jeff about three weeks ago and he said the Jag was eating floating pellets as fast as he could put them in before shipping.

That's what he told me about the Mesonauta. They have been totally disinterested in food from the minute I got them.

The Krobia have been and continue to eat even through their bad fungal infections.
