I have been hearing and seeing lots of different sci names for Jags lately... just wanna get some info as to how many species there actually are.

Parachromis managuensis. That's the only one as far as the scientific name goes. Any other names are either common names or indicative of collection locale.

I was just like "wtf" when I saw stuff like Cichlasoma managuense, nandopsis managuense and Parachromis managuensis.

The correct name for the fish is Parachromis managuensis. As Greenterra points out, lot of the fish will be further identified by collection locale.

"cichlasoma" is an old-school generic name for American cichlids that you will often come across; you may also see ex-cichlasoma used . . .

nandopsis was another genus that the Jaguar was in for a while

basically, the genus names for cichlids are often subject to change, when a given fish is being moved into or out of a particular group

you'll notice that no matter what the genus, the name of the fish remains managuense . . .
