To all my MFKers I have a huge epidemic going on as of right now my male managuense I purchased on the 2nd of this month has currently mated with my oh so surprisingly female managuense. I need an experienced breeder to help me out and guide me in the right direction, I heard aquamojo was great for answering questions concerning magauense. My female must have laid them as of last night. I'm really starting to see some white eggs and yellow one as well. It actually looks cool how she decided to go about laying them they are upright on a solid thick piece of malaysian wood I do have another 10g not to sure when to transfer the fry? and when it's time to move the fry from the parents? And would a 10g be enough room? Might I add that the parents are about 6-7"in. I know when the parents are adults they can both be housed in a 55 the (breeding pair) but since mine haven't reached maturity:confused: would the growth of my managuense cichlid pair be stunt?

You can always PM Aquamojo or other members if you need direct help from them. Mojo is a nice guy and likes to help people. Do you mean that the Jags are currently in a ten gallon and you have another ten gallon available for the fry? If so, The Jag pair won't survive very long in a ten gallon. They need something much, much bigger. A 55 will not be large enough to house healthy adult Jags either. You risk stunting your Jags in a 55 and anything smaller. Many people leave the fry to be cared for by the parents until the next batch of eggs are laid. Some pull them out before then. I usually pull the fry of my cichlids once the parents exhibit breeding behavior again, sometimes sooner. It depends on what your plans are for the fry, how the parents tolerate them, and the size of your tank. I think an over abundance of fry would stress the parents in a small tank. Mojo actually has a video of a Jag pair with their fry. You can see in the video how the fry feed on the slime coats of the parents. The parents have a way of signaling the fry to come and go from each feeding. He keeps his pair in a large tank. So they have plenty of room to raise their fry.

hey thanks bud never thought about contacting aquamojo directly just heard that he was a great person to go to when searching for information about the managuese cichlid. And no my pair our currently in my main tank which is 115g breeder tank with the fry on the malaysian wood in there with 2 other aggressive fish. The 55g was mentioned to the fact that if I purchased one will they be housed fine in there and you answered my question no they cannot. With that being said, I am going with plan b and purchasing a 90g breeder tank I prefer those dimensions in which there is more depth
