Hi, I mostly lurk on here and I've been raising fish since I was about 14 so it's been almost 8 years or so of raising fish. I just got into it again after 3 year hiatus and partially due to the photos of people's monsters on here. Damn you all...:D

I just purchased these guys not even 6 months already. Can someone tell me if those are eggs on the PVC pipes? The way they defend the PVC pipe seems to be, not even 1 week ago, the male and female has never gotten along hence why the PVC pipes are in there for hiding spaces. I've had livebearers but never egg layers breed in my tank but I never kept cichilds more one of any type of cichlid.

Just to give you an idea the pipes opening is 4" and these 2 aren't that big well the female is a lot smaller. I feed them Hikari Gold and recently a Hong Kong brand gold fish food with spirilina which was meant for the Tinfoils really but they eat it too.

Yes I know I need a bigger tank and I am not here to discuss that now. I have a 29G that I can at least split them up so they don't kill the 2 3" tinfoils in there or eat their eggs. Surprisingly they're not that vicious or territorial in that tank. Now if someone can build me a stand I'll have a nice 110G tank for them...

What's interesting is that the male would pick on the female and then a few days ago I use my large net and blocked it in there for a while and ever since after that day this happened and they're getting along now.

The Hikari food brightened up the male a lot and made it grow quickly.

I am not sure about the fry, hell they're still eggs and even hatched yet.

Correction, she's still laying them now.

Those are either fish eggs, or your PVC is breeding. I am no expert, so I can't tell. LOL

so those are only 4'' to 5''. nice!!:)

Same here I have a couple of pairs that are breeding and they are barely 4 inches at the most and there managuense
