Do they get more agressive as they get bigger/older?

Whats the common max size? 20 inches?

Mine got really aggressive in the 5 to 7 inch range. I went from never seeing it to finding corpses day in and day out. It just flipped a switch in that range and started flexing all over the tank. They are tough as nails.

I have seen many at 12- 14 inches and only one massive 16 inch in a 500 gallon tank and i believe that fish was over 10 yrs old.

why can't they get to two feet?

For the same reason humans don't get to 10 feet - it's just not a part of their genetic makeup, i suppose. The largest I think I've ever heard is 18" or so, but don't expect that in a normal-sized aquarium. My Jag is 6 years old and is around 14.5". I don't think fish ever stop growing, although the rate of growth certainly changes.

If the Jag isn't large enough for you, go for a Dovii. They've been known to reach 2 feet.

Largest Jag I ever saw was 18" give or take. It was the length of my forearm and hand to the tips of my fingers.

Yes they definately get more aggressive as they age. Usually you'll see a big change between 10-12"

Mine isn't getting more aggressive with age just more romantic with his lady friend but no one messes with him he just keeps to himself.

Im sure if they breed all hell is gonne brake out but until then the 2 Jags are well behaved.
