my friend has a mangrove in his 29 gallon reef tank. it hangs out his refugium inside the tank but he has one in his and he has reccomended me putting one in mine
You can put mangroves in a refugium or tank. The leaves must be out of water and they grow at a rate of about a inch or so a year I think. They are beautiful!
I have a mangrove in my fuge. it looks really neat. and is doing awesome the seahorses hang off the trunk all day. its only about 18" tall right now but it is starting to really branch out.here's a pic of it before breaking the surface.
mine has grown MUCH faster than an inch a year.
all but one set of leaves below the water line has fallen off, so it may only keep leaves beneath the water until it breaks the surface. so i think u may have been right. here is a newer pic.
You should check with your local authorities on the harvest of mangroves for your aquarium. In several areas of Florida, it is illegal to possess, disturb, or harvest them.
