Hi everyone, Im thinking of keeping some mangrove plants in my tank to remove nitrates. Gonna stick them into a piece of styrofoam and float them on the tank surface. Tank has 1x orbate bichir, 1x angelfish, 5x redclaw crayfish and some feeder shrimp. My light is quite strong and I know there's a danger that the light may burn the leaves but I intend to switch the light on for small periods of time only e.g. 10mins per day. Is this feasible? Thanks =)

I think turning the lights on and off many times a day will dramatically shorten bulb life. I have some outdoor lights that I don't turn off at all, ever. Some have been burning for 11 years without bulb replacement. I know this isn't feasible for aquarium apps. but thought I'd share.
