Hi, i got a pair of breeding HRPs size around 3 inches in my 110g tank. Now, problem is whenever they get into breeding mode they beat every one. I just got a beautiful green terror
(will post pics later ). He is kinda scared to everyone now the cons beat him if he goes into there corner and white oscars beat him if he goes into there corner. What should i do as oscars dont fight that much as the hrps do. I tried re-arranging the rocks today in the morning lets c how much it can help. Should i add deithers or should i get rid of the hrp pair.
Or adding more rocks will help releasing any aggression.

HRP´s are much more relaxed than convicts. especially when breeding. so they shouldn´t beat up your fish too bad and you do have a big tank too.

Try to add in a little cave area territory for them to have as their own? I have a pair in my 225 and they hide inside this plastic cave I put in there. if anyone comes too close the male will chase them away but he never moves too far away from the territory. I think your problem can be solved with some aquascaping and hopefully you shouldn´t have to get rid of the fish.

I've never owned HRPs but I did breed a trio of convicts for quite a while in my one cichlid community tank. I had a green terror, jack dempsey and an Oscar as tankmates.

They (especially the male) would show aggression during breeding. The easiest thing I found to do was rearrange their breeding ground. I always used a flowerpot for them and it usually faced the front of the tank and was situated in the middle. During breeding though, I would turn the pot around to face one corner of the tank and for some reason this greatly lessened their aggression towards their tankmates.

I hope this helps.

Well i guess Stratoquarius you are right that hrps are less aggresive when compared to convicts.I did rearranged the aquascapy and the hrps have taken a front cave and leave the rest area , as i added the gt on friday so he is scared of everyone. Will take time to settle . I didn't see him eating yet.. will add more plants and rock to the setup... thank you guys.
