Manny Pacquiao's Fighting Style came from Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee? It sounds great and makes for a nice soundbite. I recall Bruce Lee using a style that he referred to as Chinese Boxing, but I'm not sure that one can actually make a distinction about how to throw a punch with a martial arts technique, versus throwing a punch with a traditional boxing technique. A punch is a punch, as far as I'm concerned. It's a publicity ploy.

There are so many differences in a punch. There are huge differences between punches from Muay Thai versus a Wing Chun punch. Or between a krav maga jab vs. a brazillian juijitsu cross. Even between similar styles... for instance a Wado-ryu fighter with take a secondary lunge step for a cross punch where a shotokan fighter will plant off the jab, and throw their cross. Minute differences can be seen in foot, leg, hip and shoulder rotation, elbow angles, path, striking surface, position of each shoulder, timing, rotation of arm, power, speed, direction, angle, and last but not least, technique. So to say a punch is just a punch, is like saying a fish is just a fish.

What in the hell are you talking about, there is no striking in bjj.

Punch philosophy may wary, but they all serve the same purpose.

BJJ does have upright strikes. Philosophy has nothing to do with it, punches do not all serve the same purpose.
