Depending on your tank inhabitants you should watch it closely. It may try to get a hold of one of your fish.

Also, getting snails will only "patch" the issue that is causing the algae to grow. So check your source water, frequency/amount of water changes, and feeding regimen to try to limit the algae growth.
 
Thanks, there is a clown fish in the tank with him and they have been that way for around a year now... the mantis is between 1 and 1.5" and dark in color. it hasn't bothered with the 2 hermit crabs in the tank, but was very interested in these snails when I added them.

Its my fault on the algea, I know I have over fed.
