So Ive been doing a lot of research lately on these guys. I saw a video on youtube and I pretty much said "I want one!!" considering I just moved and no longer have fish in my aquarium I can now start over new. I really like the peacocks because of their vibrant colors and aggressive nature. I read they get 7'' and can break the glass. I have a 29G with no room or money to upgrade. I personally think its to small. The last thing I need is to come home to a broken aquarium, dead shrimp and severe water damage. I live on the second floor.. so that's a no no. What would you guys suggest?

Most people that keep these put acrylic sheet down on the bottom of the tank to prevent the glass breaking.

A 40g I think would work for one, they dont do much moving around, but deep sand I hear is good to let them build all sorts of tunnels etc. Maybe consider a smaller variety?

Yeah, I figured the Peacock was going to be to big. I have heard some of them get over a foot in size! I liked the peacock because it only gets 7 inches. I dont know if the others have that complex of colors. Ill look into them.

Yeah your gonna want to be careful as they do get big, most of the seafood restaurants here have tanks full of them between 8-12 inches, nasty little guys but fried with garlic and chilli.... Pretty delicious:drool::drool::ROFL:

The thought of that is making me hungry...would love to see this/try it!

To the OP...let us know what you end up doing and how the project works out...I have always wanted to catch one in LR and set up a tank for it.

You could always go with a spearer to avoid worrying about glass breaking. Most of these would also be fine in a 29
