This guy is very frustrating, I wish I could get him to eat more food at one sitting. He seems to just pick, taking 1 or 2 small bits a day.

Is this the nature of the beast ? (serrasalmus) or maybe, Im doing something wrong. Can any of you guys offer any tips?

Im used to fish that gorge, I dont know If I can handle this:cry:

thanks Bob

how long have you had it? if you just got it recently it might just need more time.
they usually will eat enough to keep them alive if they haven't completely settle down.
I know someone had the same issue with a manny he got, at first it wouldn't even eat any of the food (unless live), then it would eat just few bits...eventually it would eat the whole shrimp or silverside he put in the tank in one gulp.

he surely need more time as other serrasalmus kept in captivity..

Ive had him about 4 months, he,s around 5 inches and in a 30 gal long , maybe thats to small?
As jp80911 said, seems like he just eats enough to get by. Im going to put him In a 75 gal over the weekend, maybe that will help.

it's a very lovely looking manny.
once it's in a bigger tank it might help.
what do you feed it?

Thanks,
I always loved the look of a manueli, from the first time I saw one.

Ive been hearing more and more, that a big tank is a must, for them to do well.
He,s eating, frozen thawed smelts. Should I try raw shrimp?
