I see alot of people have Manzanita branches hanging down from the top of their aquarium to looks like roots hanging down. How are they secured? I would like to do this on my African river tank.

I just wedge mine in there. Against a corner then bury the ends with rocks after I press it in good and tight.
Some peeps use that fish safe glue and glue a flat acrylic piece to the ends to bury under your substrate. Or tie to center braces with fishing line.
