behind my iMac.... Southampton UK.
ok my girlfriend has done some dumb things in the past but this might just crown it off if it doesn't work....

returned home to find a new additiion to her tank: a sweet lil map turtle.... shes got every thing right and done her reasearch except for he tank did and sill is where her 2 redllne snakeheads are. shes been on about finding something to tank with them for ages and as i wasn't here to stop her she decided to do it. so far all is good, but what do u guys think the long term out come will be? does the turtle need to be relocated???

thanks peps!

Well for starters, what size is the tank? That plays a big part in our answers!
And how big are the snakeheads and the map turtle?

opps: sh's are 3" n growing quickly, turtles shell is about 1" across?

Snakeheads grow fast but so do Map Turtles. If it's a female turtle, plan on it maxing out at about 12 inches in length. Also most aquatic turtles will eat fish given the opportunity. The best set up for a turtle would be an outdoor pond when it's an adult.

outdoor pond in the uk???? i no what to expect size wise and a large tank can easily be provided as the turtle grows, but as the sh's grow alot larger and also dont mix with fish i can kinda see her logic on this one, if it works... could a sh inflict serious damage to the turtle?

Perhaps, red line snakesheads can get up to 4 feet, so yeah they might pose a threat. But female Map Turtles specialize in eating crayfish, snails, clams and other hard bodied prey. They could definitely mess up a snakehead's day, if of course the turtle is a female. Males tend to get half the size of a female. I'm sure you could make a pond in the UK for your turtle to survive in, but that depends on what species of map turtle it is. You do have a basking light and a place for the turtle to get out of the water, right?

yeap, thats what i ment by she did her reserch... lights been changed and a lovely looki basking area provided.... but i see where you are coming from.. i will keep a close eye on them over the next few weeks...
