I have never been able to keep the aquiarium clean for a good period of time.

With that being said, I would like to see what you all would suggest as if i was starting from scratch.

I am open to any and all suggestions.

The size will be 75-125g - I have not decided how large just yet. I know that will scew the gph ratings but either or suggestions would be great.

- What type of filter
- Brand(s)
- Substrate ( I did use smooth river rock much larger than his head.)

The local petshop I would PREFER to use vs. Petsmart or alike does carry canister marineland and cascade.

Thanks.

Not know much about map turtles however, I do know how to keep my water crispy. For your 75 or 125, I would do a sump for your display tank. Then run a 24/7 drip system on your filter. This is how I keep my water crispy.

If you have any question, we are here to help. If you are a problem solver, your filtration will be leet.

I will have a 75gallon aquarium with:

- Penn-Plax Cascade 1500
- Marineland Biowheel 400
- 2 Marineland power heads

Should I do away with the canister and hang over set up and so a wet-dry? If so, I honestly do not know much about them!

For turtles I always focus on mechanical filtration. Not saying to not do bio filtration but rather the amount of raw waste turtles produce is just so high you have to pull that out of the water because setting up a comprehensive bio filtration to support a turtle is a loosing battle IMHO. As such a sump with filter socks would do great in this regard and make it easy to drop in some media bags of ceramic rings for bio filtration.

If you want to purchase VS DIY you can look between the DIY section and hardware section.

Google "sponge filter" you will see all the kinds they have.

This was his original sponge until 6hrs later when he bit a chunk of it off. Its now in the 160gal.

So I threw this in his tank, good luck eating it now buddy. Pond pump with sponge inside.
