My aro had a cloudy eye on both eys last time that it became bad that I had to treat it with meds I used Maracyn 2 now his eyes seem to be ok but I notice something he became a little bit not active and his not been eating for 2 weeks now, is that a side effect of the meds?

Maracyn can effect your biofilter. How are your params? I have not noticed maracyn causing lethargy or loss of appetite, but it can cause a parameter spike which would lead to those symptoms.

And make sure that it can actually still see.

Have you varied it food, tried its favorites?

You fail to tell what type arowana you have. With both of my silvers and my black I have found that changes in there environment(including medications) can send them into a food strike. Many people have had their arowana go through this and it can last four a while( up to a month is not uncommon).

I have found with my three aros the best way to get them out of a eating strike is to offer little or no food. I would only offer food once every three days and for only a short time, remove the food if not taken within a minute or two.

This advice given is blind, it would be better if you provided more info such as arowana type, size, diet, tank size, tank mates. Also what is the general health of your tank, no mention of water params. Do you no about the nitrogen cycle? What are you ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH levels. How frequently do you change your water?

This may seem like a lot of info to give, but it is helpful when trying to figure out what is wrong.

Have you noticed if his occular response is still normal?
Paramater check would be vital considering the meds you used as there can be a number of causes for your aro to act that way. Process of elimination should help you get to the root of the problem. Water parameters are a good place to start.

If you are through with your treatment I would do several small water changes to take the medication out of the water along with adding some charcoal to eliminate the meds...

Like others have suggested I would also add a variety of food to entice your aro to eat. I have yet to see an aro ever turn down a live cricket ever!!!!

Creating a calmer tank might also help. Hence, lights down low and covering the sides might relax your aro more. Gluck and please keep us updated!

for me, i just drop in a bunch of feeders. i know the risk of feeders but is works for me.
