Melafix and Pimafix work great together for fungal and secondary bacterial infections, and being that their main elements are natural and readily absorbed, they do not cause any significant change in your parameters, affect any uninfected tank mates, irritate any plants or corals, and can be easily filtered out of your system by carbon and small water changes.
The only time you want to move to a more potent, more polluting med is when you have tried the other less destructive ones, with their full regimens and those have yielded no significant improvement. Also most med's beyond these two will require you to have a separate QT tank as they cannot be added to a community/display tank because of toxicity to a number of animals.
