It's one of the heavy duty antibiotics out there so yes, it can.

Ive used it twice before and each time for a few weeks. I didnt notice any problems with water parameters. But I did play it safe and isolate fish to a seperate tank. I used a sponge filter. Ive used both Maracyn and Maracyn 2.
