I have been breeding marble cons for a couple of years now (started out for feeders but I grew to really like these guys). I've noticed that the biggest fry in every batch always looks more like a black con. I am using 3 bloodlines and every generation I cull the black ones but still The largest every batch is black. Anyone else had this experience? Any speculation as to why? Thanks.

When u say looks more like a black con u mean it also has a black body? Can I see some pics?

The OP probably has marbled cons with black genes in it. Someone in this forum said that marbled genes are dominant. So have a marbled pair with black genes will definitely produce some black cons.

yes, that's what I mean, they look for the most part like a full black con.
no pics for now as I said I cull the black ones but next batch I'll grow one out to show you what I mean.

They will probably look like black cons with a little bit of marbling in them. I've seen one at my lfs. It looks like any other black con u can find but he has some spots where he's not suppose to. They look pretty cool. Grow the black ones then give them to me if you don't want them. I have some marbled cons that I would trade just so you can keep you're line pure.
