Usually not, they're not a particularly aggressive or active hunting species. But if you don't feed them regularly or you put them in an environment where the fish are easily and readily accessible, they'll start to disappear.

They don't eat the artificial plants or filter sponges, they eat the organisms growing on them. And they shouldn't have a huge interest in those unless all their nutritional requirements aren't being met. Other species, like Red Claws are huge on those organisms, however.
mine dont eat fish unless they are handed to them (dead of course). ive got a bunch of guppies in with a batch of 2ish inchers and they dont bother each other at all, neither did the mother when she was around and she got to a good 4 inches
