Marble progress... AKA the ugly stick.

Well here goes. This is my first lil Marble and only the second Marble I aquired. I got her at about a month old. She was born I believe Jan 19th 2008. She's a captive bred and I believe her parents now reside with Pat at Amazon Stingrays.

She had amazing Marbling within the first month or 2. Continued to get better for about 8 months.... Then all of a sudden gone. Was like a Marble thief broke in and stole my baby and left me with a different ray...LOL

Wish I knew if enviroment contributed to this or if it was strickly nature taking it's course, but wow does she change.... And the changing is neverending..... She's atleast on the rebound now and looks better and better everyday since the last of these pics were taken.

I'll have to get some recent pics, as the last in this batch were taken right after the move to the 300 gallon growout. She colored up a LOT since she's gotten comfy in there and has become ruler of the growout......

I had never heard of a case where a Marble actually declined in looks.... Well here you go. This IS proof as of right now but she seems to be getting better so maybe it's just a phase.... Anyways hope you enjoy seeing her grow up.

Nice rays but im confused as to which ray is which? Could you possibly include dates and sizes as well?

IMO - Its 99% genetic when it comes to their patterning.

They are ALL the SAME ray. They are in order except for the last pic. The last pic should be the 4th one.

Dates.... LOL My camera is 19th century....LOL

First 3 pics were when she was in growout. What should be the 4th is actually the last pic, but was taken right after moving to the pond. Next 2 are prolly a few months after being in the pond. The pink bucket pic is on the way to the 300. The last are after a couple weeks in the 300. Those are guessing about the end of Feb.

WOW, that was a beautiful pup.... I guess thats what I have to look forward too. I am still in awe how much she has changed!!!! I would've been pissed if I were you. LOL

Like I said she has allready made some huge improvement over the last in this series of pics.... I'll dig for or take some updated pics.... Now she looks very similar to the 2nd female in JohnCs thread......

I've learned that you can't judge a Marble by how it looks one day cause it may change the next. I have a lil male that I was dying to get rid of and was down to $250 before my girl talked me out of it. Good thing she did as it only took about a month and a half and it is now one of my best looking rays. It's name is Todaso. (Told you so) IF I would have sold it I'd be kicking myself bad right now.

The should be called Chameleon Motoros......

Amazing changes. Nice that you've kept photo documentation of her. I would've never believed a marble could change that much over that time period, and go from so stunning, to not-so-stunning.
