Hi. I have a bit of a conundrum. I purchased what my LFS deemed a Marble Sailfin Catfish. I have come to find about 5 different latin names for similar catfish and can't narrow it down to just one by looks alone. Regardless I know he's a carnivore I know he gets big (24" in captivity 40" in the wild) and I know that my 50gal grow out tank is going to become too small rather quickly.

I wanted to purchase a 125 reef ready aquarium. Right now on my 55 I have a Rena xp3 running with 1kg of biomax and sponges. I have an emperor 400 and penguin 330 for surface agitation and biowheel filtration I think I'm going to do a sump for my 125. Are there any special needs I should consider is a 125 too small (I've seen full grown Jardini's in 125 and I'm assuming thats the size I'm shooting for). Any and all help is appreciated along with average cost information and additions to my list needs!

-Jay

A 125 generally is only 18" wide, and for a 24" cat you should at the very minimum have a tank that is 24", but 30" would be ideal.
