^That.

Also, do you know that other tankmates didn't strip the skin off his whiskers? You must quarantine him either way.

The only time I've seen the flesh showing in a catfishes whiskers is when another fish attacked one and it looked like you describe.

it happened to one of mine during an ammonia spike when a large pleco died behind some rocks and i didn't see it right away. do daily big water changes and test your water. make sure you have adequate filtration. clean/vacuum your gravel if you have any. quarrantine is a good idea to treat the injury, if you have the space. marble cats heal well ime.

Quarantine (If you don't have an extra tank a large tubawear with a cycled filter works well) Up the temp, and ad some salt. Whisker deterioration happens a lot with poor water quality, and/or ammonia spikes.
If you plan on using any meds/chemicals remember that because cats are scaleless you use half of the directed amount.

Bump.
It could be an ammonia spike or tank mates, like the above posters said. I suggest also, quarantining it to bring it back to full health.

Thanks guys...I put it in a 55 ill check the water quality and post it up... i have to go buy some salt.. bbl
