Breeding crays is a lot like culturing bb. The more surface area you have, the more crays you'll get. Making a big pyramid out of PVC will increase the area your crays can live and breed. Well, clone in this instance.

We have three 55 gallons with crays and they're bare-bottom. I've cut PVC tubes into small homes for them. They're doing great! We've been doing that for about a year or more now. We use the young for some cichlids and also our fahaka! That's just how I do it though.........Jay

I breed mine in a bare bottomed tank. Makes siphoning the mulm easier. I use oyster shell, whale eye shells, rocks, and pvc pipes for hiding places. Once they get going, they breed like rabbits. LOL!

I got mine from a guy maybe 30 min away from me that had posted some on craigslist.

My 2 largest of the 4 are about an inch an a quarter. When does the magic happen? Currently on sand with plants for food, algae waffers, carnivore, sometimes a silverside. Just a piece of wood in the center to calm territorial issues.

Anything I'm missing? I heard they like hard water so the wood was only added recently. When I saw bullying for food. I will remove the wood and add some pvc pipes is any size better than another? Thanks.

Oh and 4 crays in a 20long until they get bigger then moving to a 40 breeder.
