hello guys, i've bread marbled crays before so it not completely new but i am trying to do it a little differently this time and am looking for some advice. right now i have two fairly small (2ish in.) berried mothers in a 10 gallon but once the babies hatch i would like to separate some of them into a grow out or two, or perhaps throw some into my main tank to clean up and eventually inevitably be killed (150 w/ piranhas) thats the plan anyway.

so i have a spare 2.5, 4, and 20L waiting in the wings, i would prefer to use the smaller tanks as opposed to getting the 20 involved because counter space here is prime realty and i've already resorted to keeping the 10 under the 150 stand to free up some room.(the 20 wouldn't fit)

last crays i had that were berried, when moved, was a total deal breaker and were eggless a few days later so i'd like to avoid that but what are my other options as far as getting some babies away from the mothers? wait and grab what i can when their at a decent size?

would it be feasible after this batch to throw the keepers in the 4 an have the 10 as a grow out?

You can move a berried crayfish, but don't use a net. Catch the crayfish in a container. Why not just let the crayfish release the babies and just catch them and move them to another tank?

alright, i'll give the container method a try once the other tanks cycled, i may do the larger in the 4 and the little guy in the 2.5... or i may try and trade my 20 for another 10 and cycle that, i feel like it may work out better in the end.. the others may be too small imo. has anyone had luck catching the mothers and moving them once the babies are hatched, but still holding on? that might be the easiest transport method all things considered, so long as the babies will do alright

anyone know the min. tank size for a single crayfish?? the larger one showed herself today with no eggs and shes right around 2 inches now and was wondering if the 4 would be too small and cause her to stop producing clutches?

thanks, ill do some research on my own as well, this forum seems to have slowed down inverts-wise
