I had this Goby for over a week and he was eating great. He ate market shrimp and salmon nuggets and liver. Now he has quit eating altogether.

Should I be worried...He hasn't ate in a couple of days.

I hate fish that won't eat!!! Arggggghhhhhh:(

Im no expert...but did u check the water parameters. Does he look okay physically, is he active at all. Does he still act the same way he did b4 he stopped eating. I do know sometimes fish do this, but at the same time I have always heard Gobies are PIGS. Hope this helps and im sure someone who is more knowledgeable will come and give some suggestions.

I guess he just did not want salmon or liver yesterday. This morning he ate his fill of market shrimp. He won't put out much effort to find food. It has to hit him on the nose. But if it hits his nose or in that general area...he eats until he is full.

Huh, that's the complete opposite of mine.
I put in shrimp and that guy hunts through the entire tank looking for food.
And @ sevendreamz: Yes, these guys ARE pigs. I counted my 10 inch one eat over thirty shrimp and 3 feeder guppies. And he was STILL hungry!
Cheers,
GobyMaster

My little guy is in the neighborhood of 8-10 inches. But he doesn't eat like that. Of course I feed often...it just worried me that he turned down the fresh salmon. And then he turned down liver...but was all about the shrimp.

nice fish. i just picked up a 5"er and it was eating sinking pellets and everything else in no time. first fish i've gotten in a while that i didn't have trouble getting it to eat pellets. good luck.

Well make sure u dont get him spoiled on shrimp. Healthy fish DO NOT starve themselves so he will eventually eat what you give him. And if he's in the tank by himself then make him work for his food. Dont jus drop it right on top of him....LOL...he should make some sort of effort, believe me when he's hungry he'll go looking. The best diet is a VARIED diet. Good Luck...;)

I have sleepy cod which is very similar to marbled goby if not the same thing although i think what your one comes from New Guinea and Asian countries. I think of him more like a catfish then anything else. He will eat and eat till his stomach is bulging and then will sit around for a 2-3 days and not eat again just like alot of the bigger cats do. So i def wouldnt be worried about yours not eating for a few days.
