Did a search but only TSN and Tigrinus came up, but im guessin most cats should be the same. Anywoo, I just got a marbled pim yesterday and he decided that he likes under the java fern where my red wolf, hoplos and chaca hang out. I though he'd be fine because the hoplos are much smaller then him, but I think he got into a brawl with the wolf and now a couple of his whiskers are broken and he doesnt wanna eat. Will they grow back? Thanks,
John

As far as I know, this rule applies to all catfish (at least that I have heard of or dealt with, but it doesn't mean I'm right). As long as the whisker is not broken off or destroyed at the base, it will grow back. I am more concerned that he's not eating. Does he have his own place to hide and relax? If not, he might be stressed out, and as a result not want to eat. Has he eaten since you got him, or did the hunger strike start after the whiskers were damaged?

Thanks for the reply! There are two other un-inhabited hiding spaces, a rock cave and a coconut shell, but he must have liked the wolffishes hiding spot better . .. . the pim didnt make it through the night :(

I was actually depressed for a week when my Mekong Giant Cat and my Chao Phraya Giant Cat died. I mean I got them initially as 1-inch fingerlings and I thought they were ID Sharks, but after 6 inches it was obvious that I had a MGC and a CPGC. It was elated because they were expensive and were only sold at 8 inch sizes.

But then these workers came and had to disconnect the oxygen (instead of the TV or DVD player or even the fan). And the only fish that died happened to the the MGC and CPGC. They were nearing the 2 ft mark too.
