I just got this guy for free tonight. He's beautiful, but has some major damage to the caudal peduncle.

Has anyone seen damage this bad?

I think the guy was saying a Jack Dempsey tore him apart...and the the JD was then eaten by a redtail (sweet, sweet revenge :FIREdevil)

So, what do you think...should just name him Stumpy, or do you think there is a chance for re-growth. I'm thinking go with "Stumpy" because if you look closely at the second pic, you can see where it looks like the peduncle has started to heal over...without any caudal rays forming at all.

Once the rays are gone, it's not coming back. :(

Oh well...he is still welcome in my eclectic mix. :D

So, I guess I will redirect this thread:

Everyone...please welcome Stumpy into the KSB family.

Still a nice Marble Goby.. treat him right.. I love them :D

Yeah, he definitely is. The pics don't do him justice...I'll have to try to take some without the flash, but he has a lot of subtle pinks, oranges, and reds that really make him quite striking.

I can assure you he'll be treated right...probably spoiled. :D

Look on the bright side.. when measuring him people cannot argue Tail Length vs Body Length :D

...very true. That will be cut and dry.

Hey stumpy,I have one myself that took a beating and managed to heal up.

Yeah, your guy looked good when I was down there. Was this a while ago that it happened?

He seems to be doing well so far. He's eating like a pig and I've dosed the tank with salt just to prevent any secondary infections...better safe than sorry.
