i read about them and was thinking of adding it to the prawn tank do these really clear the water up ? i have 6 pieces of drift wood in a 55 gal tank and i do weekly water changes but the water still seems ot get cloudy is this because of the drft wood leeching ? all i have are 5 indian prawns and 10 guppies and 5 baby rosenbergi's i check the water its all safe levels

As far as power filters go, they're one of the better ones. But if the cloudy water is from the driftwood, it probably wont do much to clear it up. The bio-wheel filters are mainly designed for biological filtration, but I guess if you threw some high grade carbon in there it might clean it up somewhat.
ko its just a little cloudy but all tests show water is in great shape

if it is safe driftwood (e.g. self-harvested in a river or purchased in an aquarium store), it is not the cause of your cloudy water.
Make sure that you have sufficient biofiltration and that you don't overfeed.

For clearing up dirty water get an AC500, for bacteria colonization and for durability go for Emp400. IME emp400 does not clean the water very well like AC filters, but I like the emp filter better than AC for durability and biowheel.
the AC 500 is a good filter, but I just put an Emperor 400 on my 55g tank and I noticed a difference. I also filled the basket that came with it with a carbon mix as well as the cartridge. I believe it works better since the cartridge seems to fit better and less water can get by it instead of going around it like in the ACs. Just my $.02.
To clear the water, I would do a water change while vacuuming the rocks good, clean the filter. There is also solutions you can purchase that supposedly clear the water. I have never tried them as I don't want to put chemicals in my tank unless absolutely necessary.

well only after 24 hrs with the 400 running man my water is crystal clear i love it and the bio wheels are totaly kool to watch sure is a quiet pump down the road if the 330 frm wal mart dies im getting another 400 i believe
