Hi,

I am pretty new to marine fish keeping and have a question regarding live rock and the best way to stop fish poop etc accumalating under it.

What is the best way to do this? My live rock is currently sitting on a bed of sand and i guess there must be something to prop it up with. I have heard that some people use spray bars under the rocks but I am not sure how to do this? I had an idea (which may sound crazy!) which was to place undergravel filter plates under the live rocks, attach an uptake pipe and invert a powerhead onto it to blow water into the uptake pipe and create a current under the under the rocks.....

Any suggestions/idead are very welcome !

Thanks

Dave

well first,:welcome: to mfk!
i think you are asking how to keep poop from going under your rocks, right?
if so you can strategically place powerheads in your tank but if that doesnt cut it then you can hook up a powerhead to a modified pvc under gravel jet system that would be hidden under your rocks (you can make this yourself to suit your needs)

Hi there,

Thanks for the response. I am pretty new to this and want the easiest solution possible. I will give it a try with some powerheads placed in the tank to blow the poop out (i have some Hydor nano's on order). If this does not work i will try with the filter plates and post if this is successful!.

Cheers,
Dave
