got a 20 wat salt water bulb and thought id try it on my 30 gallon and it looks pretty cool. Can it hurt anything in FW? i have no live plants.

will it induce alge growth?, cuz i was reading the box and it says induces photosynthesis of corals so i thought it might have this effect in alge aswell
it's probably an actinic bulb. you'll be fine. if it is, you'll have less algea than with a plant bulb
