A friend gave me a Tetra PH test designed for marine tanks. I run a freshwater tank and aside from the missing color chart scale, it only has 7.0 to 9.0. Would the readings be still accurate If i use this on FW ?

If you have a high enough pH then it could be useful. Most people with African cichlids need to get the high range or marine pH test kits. If your pH is barely over 7.0 though it won't be very accurate.
