Marine ray Pool size for Bat or cownoseray

Well - Cownose Rays are generally a schooling ray - so you'll need several (at least 3-5) of them. And they grow to be about 3-5ft across(depending on the species) - so a 1,000 gallon pond won't be enough. Unless you get the cownose rays that are very young (less than 24" across).

A 1,000 gallon pond might work for a single young Bat ray for a while. But they too will eventually out grow it - since Bat rays can get to be 6 ft across.

that is a very cheap pond ,we would pay about $1500 in aus. have you thought about a smaller ray and maybe catshark with a port jackson

Too small. Also keep in mind the smaller the tank, the more you'll need to aware of water quality with a school of rays. You'll save in the cost of the pool, and burn your wallet with filter and water changes.

Right now I have my two bats in my 8' pool and they are doing quite well. One ray is 10"-12" across and the other is 12"-14" across. Space wise they seem to be fine in there BUT I really think the only way I am getting away with this is because its hooked to my 7000 gal shark set up. Thats the only reason the water quality stays up. With a pool that size I would stick with some rays like
Deano has. Remember eagle rays are very heavy bodied and there for make lots of waste and use up more O2 then a small ray would.
