Hi GUy's
Well yesterday went from being a cool day, few hours away from 2 weeks Annual leave to receiving a phone call that every fishkeeper dreads
Girlfriend called, our 6x3 Marine tank failed and was spewing water out all over the floor
I raced home, complete side seam had burst, water everywhere, so after wat seemed like weeks, it was all cleaned up, but salt residue everywhere (Steam Mop) hire today to fix that
when i inspected it was my own (Silly Rookie 101 Error) where the tank had been placed prior, the floor was 100% flat, the area we had moved it too, was not checked and looked perfectly flat, but was not :(
hence placing too much pressure on the tank and over the course of about 4 days, pressure built and BHAM away she went (Note to self, dont do this AGAIN)

Thats unfortunate. Looks like quite a mess. I'm sorry you're dealing with that.

I'm not sure why so many people here insist that acrylic tanks are somehow safer than glass. Just look at how that seam completely disintegrated. If I may ask, how much was that side off kilter by?

Did you lose any fish or did you recover them in time?

Unless I’m mistaken that’s a glass tank.
raycam01_au raycam01_au could you enlighten me? Also I didn’t expect your voice to be like that. Perhaps British?

Think you might be right. That canopy is throwing me off though. Is it rimless glass with an acrylic top or something?

Happy you and your girlfriend didn't get hurt and you saved the fish.

I think it’s just eurobraced.

Actually this would be a good time to discuss it. Lepisosteus Lepisosteus , you’re our mfk acrylic guy, could you talk on the subject of which material is safer?

I think he is Australian,as seems to be hinted by his username.
I’ll be honest, I never paid attention to his username really, I just remember him by his profile picture.

....and I have never noticed it before today when I saw the thread title and decided to check it out.
