Marineland Biowheel Vs! aqua clear filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Have you tried the search feature? This has been covered many times. But i'm currently using both on my 55g. I've been using E400 for years and love it. Still getting used to the AC110. The one thing that's annoyed me with the Emperors is loosing bio-wheel bearings. I've had to use parts from penguin's and had to cut them to fit.

Use the search feature...this has been debated a 100 times on here. It always comes down to what ever the person replying uses and how the individual filter is set up.

The E400 will trap more crud than a AC110 in any given week no mater how it's set up and has 4 times the bio capacity if you run SC6 supercartrages in it. The AC has a 100 gph advantage over the E400 but it's also well known for bypassing the media. On sale they both come in about the same price. I have several of each but the E400's are all running and the AC 110's are in reserve boxes...I've done plenty of side by side testing between these filters by the way so this is NOT a biased reply.

After years of using both, AC has more effective mechanical filtration and the Emp has better bio filtration.

If you perform a search, you will find this thread many times over. Aquaclear.

it was more for what everyone likes the best, i know many things about them want to see what everyone uses!

I have a aquaclear..

I have heard the bio's break more. and that the aquaclears work forever...

But for filtration the Biowheel's keep it cleaner?
