i've been looking to get a new canister, saw the new marinelad "c"-series filters. can anybody who has one tell me how it is working out for you?

i own one, They are very quiet and sturdily built. Useful features like removeable intake/outtake unit ( the uk version also has taps not sure if that's the case on the US marketed ones though) and handle. I'm very happy with mine, over here in the UK they are priced very competively and imo they are the best value cannister filter on the market. The supplied media is a little average though, some coarse sponges, bio balls, carbon, some c. rings, and a piece of filter floss.

Basically i think they are a bargain. Unless i need a really large cannister like a eheim pro3 size or special features like electronic controls or heating element incorporated. I'd get one of these filters, perfect for more average size tanks. I have one running in my bedroom 125L tank.

thanks for the info. yeah, the price is what caught my attention. how is the flow rate? as advertised?

I like Eheim.

can't really tell you, as i've never really measured it ^^;;

I have never liked a product Marineland put out, if you compare it with a comparable product from another manufacturer.

I like mine so far- I got a 220. The only 2 complaints I have is the intake and and outflow hard plastic parts are flimsy in comparison( to even my old Mag 350 (which I still use for the micron part ) and the polishing filter floss came apart after only 3 weeks and looked like bits of flake food until I noticed and broke down the unit and replaced the floss with something better. I now use the blue/white cut to fit floss, works good enough.
