Marineland C Series Outlet Extensions

I just got a turtle from a friend. I need the lower the water level in my tank, but I don't want to listen to the water splashing out of my filters. I have a Marineland C-360 and a C-220 running right now. I did a Google search and found a forum asking about extensions for the outlet assembly to the diffuser, and Marineland's reply was that other turtle owners had made custom extensions with vinyl tubing. My question is what ID/OD do I need for tubing for the C-360 and C-220?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can I guess? a juice jug cut in half, use the end with the spout. Flip it upside down. Attach a hose to the spout. Run the length of hose down into and just above the waterline, and somehow affix the juice jug half under the output using fishing line or plastic ties. there's my guess.
