I posted this to one other forum also, Just Curious? I was just wondering for those of you out there with Marineland canisters how long have you had them run given proper maintainence? Not to single out China but I have had some questions with regard to quality on these units? I am pretty sure it is about the same unit as Aquatop, Sun Sun, etc. I have read the the old Marineland units had better quality. Does anyone know have the C-Series always been made in China? I know the units such as Fluval I thought I read is Italy, Eheim is Germany, Rena is US. I noticed allot of the time you need to be careful because a unit will say Designed in say Germany or Italy but that dosn't always mean that is where its made? I know in todays world thats how it is but in a time when everything seems to be shifting to the orient I have been trying to support products made in the US or Europe.

I have 7 Rena xp3s, they've been running for 5+ years with no leaks or other issues. Dunno about the Marinelands. I haven't had a reason to switch to anything else, and I'm never giving up my Renas since they're over $50 more than when I first bought them. :D

The only other one I'm running is fluval, and that's because it came with my tank. I have a cascade but the seal started leaking on it awhile back, and it also got a small crack, so I just turned it into a pond filter.

I've run the old skool marinelands with no problems. I currently run a aquatop 400 and a cascade 1000 which are similar in design to the c series. I've heard good things about the c series. They had leaking problems but I believe I read that they fixed those issues.

I don't know if anyones cares about this but my purpose for this post is more from just a curious standpoint? Do you folks realy care where a product comes from? Just to answer this question I emailed Most of the big makes to find this out? So far Rena in built in Mexico. In my experiance I have found in many cases where a product is produced does seem to have a effect on the overall quality of the product? What do you folks think???

I have (2) Rena xp3's on each of my tanks, 125 & 150, have not any major problems with them. I found them on Amazon for $119.00 each. This was the best price I ever seen.

I really don't care where products are made.

I own a Marineland canister filter for my small reef tank. I bought a Rena Filstar to work along with my wet/dry on my 120g freshwater. That Rena out performers that Marineland by far. Higher flow, and much easier to do maintenance on. Rena best bang for buck IMO
