I will eventually have a LMB and a Lima cat in a 260 as I have said enough times that I am sure you guys are sick of it lol.... But my question is... Would these 2 fish need any special lighting? I have fake plants and I just want to know if these led lights would be sufficient? or will I need special light for the fishies?

Most fish live in fairly murky water. The rare exception are reef fish because of the large amount of light required to keep most reefs alive.

Unless you have plants, the lights are mostly for people, not the fish.

I have read all the reviews I could find on these and I think they would be pretty nice from what Ive read. They are supposed to have a nice sparkle to them like natural sunlight hitting the bottom of the tank or the same effect as Metal Halide. They consume very little electrical, no heat, low profile.

Of course I have not seen them in person, so I cant comment on how they really are. They just sound nice.

I ordered two of the 36" expandable to 48" lights. I will post a review after I get everything set up!!

I have these on my 350. 2 of the 36-48" models. They look really good. If youre going for a natural look this is the ticket. They arent super bright so if youre looking to make the fish's color really pop ide go for dual bulb T5's.

I didnt like them too much at first coming from the T5's that lit every corner of the tank at all times, but after a few weeks these have really grown on me. The tank looks very natural and the fish seem alot more calm and content. Almost like being in the river with them.

I just purchased the 24" - 36" for my 29g, I like the way they look sleek profile, very clean crisp whitish light has a very showy feel. The system is a must have or at the very least a must see :)

I have a 36" strip on my 40g breeder tank and really like them. I just got a canister filter, though, and there's no surface agitation, so the sparkle no longer exists. I still like the color spectrum they put out.

The only thing I don't like about these are that they create a light beam showing into the tank. Also, on my 210 the two strips don't light the whole tank front to back, but I am thinking about adding two more for a total of 4.

Here is the light beam that I am talking about. I have removed the feet and put the lights right onto my lids.
