I know how costly it is to buy filter pads for hang on back filters and I know some of us have started making our own, I have. Well I found a place online (Chewys.com) that sells the filter pads cheap. I’m talkin $7.00 for a box of four pads. Not a bad price. Check em out.

Filter cartridges are a racket by the manufacturer to get you dependent on their product. That's why I love the DIY mentality of this hobby. Thanks for the heads up though. That's a great price.

Aquatech 30-60 cartridges fit as well. If you have a walmart local to you it is 12 for 6 pads.

Personally I cut the blue floss off of the pads and use rubber bands to attach my own. Since I use mine as a purely mechanical filter use 4 floss pads. If you wish to add bio to marineland filters buy the 3 dollar refillable cartridge and fill with matrix.

......or make your own bio cage with gallon milk jug plastic, a razor blade, and some silicone.
