Marineland Magnum 350

How would you guys rate this Filter? Compared to something like this

Someone has a new Magnum filter for sale, but they want a 100 for it? I like the filter above because I can add my own media to it, can I do the same with the magnum?

Magnums are good but there bio sucks,^ this filter seems to be pretty good so far.

IME Marineland Magnum 350 is the worst canister ive ever had. I wouldnt even pay $50 new for that filter.

I have a friend that has the ebay filters and it has been pretty good for him. I myself like the Rena Xp series, and own an XP3. Provides pretty good flow although it clogs up pretty fast. But if you clean it every 2 weeks youre good to go! It also has great mech, and plenty of room for bio.

I put cermaic rings in the mesh container in my 350 when I was using it. I never had an issue with Bio-filtration doing this. My only complaint is that the mesh screen on the basket always came out and it's a hassle to put back in. You can get a replacement container for $10 which I did several times to only have the screen pop out again. If I were to purchase another canister filter in the future, I would look at other brands for this very reason.

Save your money. Marineland mag 350 canisters are awfull. I have one and it is pretty much worthless . I spent $125 for it new--what a waste of money. I bought the sun sun fx5 clone off of e-bay for $60 and it performs circles around the mag 350.
